The Golden Sweep — Gold Order Block Indicator

A higher-timeframe order block sets the bias when the next candle closes through its extreme. The indicator then marks the first order block, fair value gap or A+ double gap in that direction on your chart. Closed bars only — the arrow stays where it printed.

The gap

Where gold order-block setups go wrong

Gold moves fast and prints a lot of structure. The concepts are not the hard part — applying one bias, on time, without fading every gap is.

The problem

  • On a fast gold chart, any last opposite candle can be labelled an “order block”, and the chart fills with zones.
  • Every fair value gap looks like an entry, and two gaps in a row get treated like one.
  • The bias flips mid-session because the higher timeframe was never tied to a closed candle.
  • The setup completed on a bar close you were not watching.

How The Golden Sweep helps

  • One bias, one candle. Direction comes from a single higher-timeframe order block, validated by the close of the next candle only.
  • Gated triggers. Chart order blocks, fair value gaps and A+ double gaps only fire in that bias and inside the session.
  • A+ is defined. Two strictly consecutive fair value gaps — a rule, not a mood.
  • One arrow per block. The first trigger consumes the higher-timeframe order block, so the chart does not spray.
  • Context and timing. A setup-armed dot, a bar-close timer and alerts.

In this model, a higher-timeframe order block only counts once the next candle has closed through its extreme — not while price is still poking at it. That is why the bias is read on closed higher-timeframe candles, and why a chart candle only reads the higher-timeframe candles that had already closed when it opened.

Why traders use it

What it changes on your chart

Signals that stay where they printed

Filled arrows print on closed bars and are left where they printed. Nothing shifts after the fact.

A bias you can point at

The latest higher-timeframe order block sets the direction, and a setup-armed dot marks the chart bar that validated it.

Three triggers you can switch off

Chart order block, fair value gap and A+ double gap — enable only the ones you trade.

A trade plan on the chart

Virtual entry at the signal close, a fixed-pip stop and TP1 / TP2 lines in R multiples.

A prop desk in the corner

Target %, maximum drawdown and daily drawdown from your real broker history, with alerts as you approach them.

Never miss the close

A bar-close timer, plus pop-up, push, e-mail or sound alerts.

Under the hood

Features in detail

  • Higher-timeframe order-block biasA higher-timeframe order block is candle N of the opposite colour whose extreme is broken by the close of candle N+1 — the next candle only. The latest valid higher-timeframe order block sets the direction until a higher-timeframe candle closes beyond the other extreme of its order-block candle — below its low for a buy bias, above its high for a sell bias — or a new higher-timeframe order block forms.
  • Setup-armed dotsA setup-armed dot prints on the chart candle that closes with the higher-timeframe validation candle. It is context, not a signal: the session filter does not apply to it, and the dots can be switched off.
  • Chart order-block triggerThe same next-candle rule on your chart timeframe: an opposite candle whose extreme is broken by the next candle’s close, in the direction of the bias.
  • Fair value gap and A+ double gapThe fair value gap trigger fires on candles 1-2-3. Two strictly consecutive fair value gaps on candles 1-2-3-4 print as A+. With the single-gap trigger switched off, the A+ still prints on its own.
  • One setup per higher-timeframe order blockThere is one setup per higher-timeframe order block: the first arrow consumes it. If that arrow was a single fair value gap on candles 1-2-3, an A+ can still print on candle 4 as an upgrade of the same setup. Every candle of the trigger pattern opens after the higher-timeframe order block was created, and the signal candle must sit inside the session filter.
  • Session filterThe signal candle must sit inside the window you choose: Asia, London, London + New York (lunch excluded), London → New York (continuous, the default), New York, custom broker hours, or all hours. Outside it, the pattern is ignored and the setup stays armed.
  • Virtual trade planEntry at the signal close, stop at a fixed distance in pips, TP1 / TP2 as R multiples; a plan below the minimum reward-to-risk you set is not drawn.
  • Prop-desk dashboardTarget %, maximum drawdown and daily drawdown limits, plus trades, win rate, profit factor and expectancy computed from your own account history, with drawdown alerts.
  • Non-repaint, timer and alertsClosed bars only; a chart candle only reads the higher-timeframe candles already closed when it opened. A bar-close timer, and alerts by pop-up, push, e-mail or sound — one per arrow, never on history.

Getting started

How it works, in three steps

Install from the MQL5 Market

Buy, or start with the free demo — it appears in the Market tab of MetaTrader’s Navigator.

Attach it to XAUUSD

Set the higher timeframe (default M15), your session and the triggers you want, once.

Wait for the armed dot

Then the first trigger in the bias — order block, fair value gap or A+ — confirmed on the close of a bar.

Honest fit

Who it is for — and who it is not

A good fit if…

  • Gold traders who want one higher-timeframe bias and a short list of chart triggers
  • Traders who want prop-desk context — target and drawdown in view — without an EA
  • Traders who value a clean chart: one setup per higher-timeframe order block, arrows that do not move

Not for you if…

  • Anyone looking for an EA — it never places orders
  • Traders expecting guaranteed results or a guaranteed passed evaluation
  • Traders who want the complete liquidity map and AMD engine — that is Sweep Protocol

Trading a different idea? The Notorious OB is the multi-symbol revisit model — order block after a liquidity sweep, entry on the revisit — and Sweep Protocol is the fuller engine, with the complete liquidity map and the AMD filter.

FAQ

Questions traders actually ask

What is the signal?

The first trigger in the direction of an armed higher-timeframe order block: a chart order block (the same next-candle rule), a fair value gap (candles 1-2-3), or an A+ — two strictly consecutive fair value gaps (candles 1-2-3-4). There is one setup per higher-timeframe order block: the first arrow consumes it. If that arrow was a single fair value gap on candles 1-2-3, an A+ can still print on candle 4 as an upgrade of the same setup. Every candle of the trigger pattern opens after the higher-timeframe order block was created, and the signal candle must sit inside the session filter.

How is the higher-timeframe order block defined?

It is candle N of the opposite colour whose extreme is broken by the close of candle N+1 — the next candle only. The latest valid higher-timeframe order block sets the direction until a higher-timeframe candle closes beyond the other extreme of its order-block candle — below its low for a buy bias, above its high for a sell bias — or a new higher-timeframe order block forms. A setup-armed dot prints on the chart candle that closes with the higher-timeframe validation candle.

What is A+?

Two strictly consecutive fair value gaps, on candles 1-2-3-4. If the first arrow was the single fair value gap on candles 1-2-3, an A+ can still print on candle 4 as an upgrade of the same setup. With the single-gap trigger switched off, the A+ prints on its own.

Does it repaint?

No. Everything is evaluated on closed bars only, and an arrow is left where it printed. A chart candle only reads the higher-timeframe candles that were already closed when it opened — what you see on history is what printed live.

Does it trade for me?

No. It is an indicator, not an expert advisor. It draws the bias, the arrows, a virtual trade plan and a panel, and it sends alerts, but it never places, modifies or closes an order. Every execution decision stays yours.

Where are the stop and the targets?

The virtual plan enters at the signal close and puts the stop at a fixed distance in pips. TP1 and TP2 are set as R multiples, and a plan below the minimum reward-to-risk you set is not drawn. They are planning lines, not orders — and a stop you place with your broker is an instruction that fills at the next available price, not a guarantee.

Is it only for gold?

It is built as an XAUUSD specialist and its defaults were chosen with gold in mind, but it runs on any symbol and the pip size is detected automatically for forex, indices, metals and crypto CFDs.

Can I use it for a prop-firm evaluation?

It is decision support only. The panel tracks the target and drawdown limits you enter, from your own broker history, and alerts you as you approach them; it cannot enforce your firm’s rules or guarantee a result. Check your firm’s terms on indicators, news trading and how it calculates drawdown.

Is there a MetaTrader 4 version?

Yes. MetaTrader 4 has its own listing on the MQL5 Market, with the same signals and the same panel. Use the button that matches your platform.

How do I install it?

Buy or download the demo from the MQL5 Market, open MetaTrader, and the product appears in the Market tab of the Navigator. Drag it onto an XAUUSD chart — no external file to copy, no DLL.

Are updates included?

Yes. The purchase is one-time and updates published on the MQL5 Market are free for owners, for the life of the product.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes. Every MQL5 Market listing includes a free demo that runs in the strategy tester, so you can watch the logic on your own charts before spending anything.
